1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Cookies are small files or pieces of information stored on or accessed from your device when you use a website. They can be used to remember preferences, keep services working, measure website use, protect against misuse or support advertising.
Website technologies can also use local storage , session storage, pixels, tags, scripts, device identifiers and similar mechanisms. UK rules apply to more than traditional browser cookies, so this policy uses the term “cookies and similar technologies” broadly.
2. UK Cookie Law, PECR and Consent
In the UK, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended, regulate storing information on or accessing information from a user's device. UK GDPR may also apply where the information is personal data.
Some technologies can be used without consent where a specific legal exception applies. Examples include technologies that are strictly necessary to provide a service requested by the user. Current UK law also contains a narrow statistical-purpose exception for certain aggregate analytics used solely to understand and improve a service, subject to specific conditions including clear information and a simple, free means to object.
Where no exception applies, consent is required before non-essential storage or access takes place. Consent must be capable of being withdrawn.
Important: analytics used for individual tracking, profiling, advertising measurement, remarketing or sharing visitor identifiers with advertising partners does not fall within the narrow statistical-purpose exception and generally requires consent.
3. Categories of Cookies and Website Technologies
Strictly necessary and functional
These support basic website operation, security, form functionality or remembering a privacy choice. Some may be essential to provide a service you request.
Analytics and performance
These help us understand how people use the website, such as which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, device/browser types and general usage patterns. Where analytics are configured in a way that requires consent, they should not be activated until the relevant choice has been made.
Embedded third-party content
Services such as Jotform and Google Maps are provided by third parties. When these resources load, your browser connects to the provider and may transmit technical information or allow the provider to use cookies or similar technologies.
Advertising and conversion measurement
If Google Ads, remarketing or another advertising platform is enabled later, these tools may use cookies or identifiers to measure enquiries, attribute conversions or personalise advertising. These technologies are not currently described as necessary website functions and should be subject to appropriate consent controls where required.
4. Cookie Notice and Preference Storage
The website uses a cookie-notice component to display information about cookies. The component may place or use a small preference cookie or browser-storage value so the website can remember that the notice has already been acknowledged and avoid displaying it unnecessarily on every page view.
The CookieConsent library commonly uses a preference such as cookieconsent_status , with the exact name and duration depending on configuration. Clearing your browser cookies or site data may cause the notice to appear again.
A preference cookie should not itself be used for advertising or profiling.
5. Jotform Enquiry Form
The quotation section uses Jotform . When the form loads, your browser connects to Jotform. Jotform may use cookies, local storage or other technical identifiers to provide the form, maintain a session, support uploads, prevent abuse, detect fraud, remember settings and operate its platform.
Jotform may receive information such as IP address, browser/device information, referral information and form interaction data, in addition to the information you choose to submit.
Because Jotform controls its own platform technology, cookie names, purposes and expiry periods can change. You can review its current practices in the Jotform Privacy Policy .
6. Google Maps
The contact section contains an embedded Google Map . Loading the map causes your browser to connect to Google and may result in Google receiving your IP address, browser/device information, the referring page and information about interaction with the map.
Google may use cookies, local storage or other technologies depending on your Google account, browser settings, region and Google configuration. Google controls those technologies under its own terms and privacy information.
More information is available in the Google Privacy Policy .
7. Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Where Google Analytics 4 is enabled, it may be used to understand how visitors find and use this website. A standard GA4 implementation can collect information such as page views, sessions, approximate geographic information, browser and device information, traffic source and website interactions.
Google states that GA4 commonly uses first-party cookies including:
- _ga – used to distinguish users; default expiry is generally two years.
- _ga_<container-id> – used to maintain session state; default expiry is generally two years.
Google states that individual IP addresses from UK, EU and Swiss users are not logged or stored in Google Analytics. IP information may be used transiently to derive coarse geographic information before being discarded.
Where GA4 is configured solely for permitted aggregate statistical purposes, the UK statistical-purpose exception may be relevant if all legal conditions are met. If analytics goes beyond that narrow purpose, for example by retaining individual-level identifiers, profiling users, measuring advertising or sharing conversion identifiers with advertising partners, consent is required.
8. Google Tag Manager
The website may use Google Tag Manager (GTM) to manage scripts and measurement tags. GTM is a tag-management system; it does not automatically mean that advertising or analytics cookies are being used.
However, tags deployed through GTM can set cookies or send information to third parties. The legal position therefore depends on the actual tags configured within the container. Any analytics, advertising or other non-essential tags deployed through GTM should follow the same consent and transparency rules described in this policy.
9. Google Ads, Conversion Tracking and Remarketing
If Google Ads or another advertising platform is added, the site may use conversion tags, advertising cookies or identifiers to measure whether a visitor completes an enquiry or other action after interacting with an advert.
Advertising technologies may include cookies such as _gcl_au or other identifiers depending on Google configuration. They may also be used for remarketing or advertising personalisation if those features are enabled.
Advertising measurement and remarketing are not treated as strictly necessary. Where these technologies are used, the website should obtain any consent required by PECR before relevant cookies or identifiers are stored or accessed and should honour withdrawal of consent.
Google Consent Mode can be used to communicate consent choices to Google tags, but Consent Mode itself is not a consent banner and does not replace the need to obtain valid user choices where the law requires them.
10. Hosting, Security and Content Delivery
When you visit the website, the hosting provider and internet infrastructure necessarily process technical requests to deliver pages and files to your device. Server logs may include IP address, date/time, requested resource, browser information, response status and security data.
The website also loads external resources such as Font Awesome and CookieConsent from content-delivery networks. These requests can expose basic network information such as IP address and browser headers to the provider delivering the resource.
Technical processing used solely to deliver, secure or maintain the service may fall within a necessary or communications-related exception, depending on the specific function.
11. Cookie and Technology Table
The table below describes the main technologies relevant to the current site and technologies that may be enabled for measurement. Third-party cookie names can change, so provider documentation should be treated as the current source for exact names and durations.
| Technology / provider | Purpose | Typical storage / data | Status / duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cookie notice / CookieConsent | Remember that the cookie notice has been acknowledged or a preference has been stored. | Preference value such as cookieconsent_status. | Functional; commonly up to 12 months depending on configuration. |
| Jotform | Deliver the enquiry form, maintain sessions, support file uploads, security and fraud prevention. | Cookies, local storage, session/device data and form interaction information controlled by Jotform. | Loads with the enquiry form; names and durations are controlled by Jotform. |
| Google Maps | Display the embedded map and allow map interaction. | Network/device information and Google-controlled cookies or storage depending on settings. | Loads when the embedded map is requested; Google controls exact durations. |
| Google Analytics 4 – _ga | Distinguish users for analytics where GA4 and analytics storage are enabled. | Random client identifier. | Analytics; Google states a default expiry of two years. |
| Google Analytics 4 – _ga_<container-id> | Maintain session state for GA4 where enabled. | Session / analytics state. | Analytics; Google states a default expiry of two years. |
| Google Tag Manager | Manage tags that may include analytics or advertising tools. | GTM itself is a container; individual tags determine storage and data collection. | Depends on the tags configured. |
| Google Ads / conversion tags | Measure advertising performance, conversions or remarketing where enabled. | Advertising identifiers, conversion data and cookies such as _gcl_au depending on configuration. | Only applicable if advertising tags are enabled; consent may be required. |
| Hosting / server logs | Deliver and secure the website, diagnose faults and prevent abuse. | IP address, timestamp, request, browser headers and security information. | Operational; retention depends on hosting/security configuration. |
12. How to Control or Delete Cookies
You can usually inspect, block or delete cookies and site data through your browser settings. The exact steps vary by browser and device.
Blocking all cookies can affect website functionality, particularly third-party forms, embedded maps or other services that depend on browser storage.
You can also use privacy-focused browser settings or extensions, but these may prevent some website features from loading correctly.
13. Changing or Withdrawing Your Choice
Where processing relies on consent, you should be able to withdraw that consent as easily as you gave it. Clearing cookies/site data can remove stored preferences, although it does not necessarily delete information already processed by a third-party provider.
If analytics, advertising or other non-essential technologies are introduced, the website's consent controls should be configured so that visitors can make and change the choices required by UK law.
Current implementation note: the supplied website currently uses a simple “Accept” cookie notice. If GA4 advertising features, Google Ads, remarketing or other consent-dependent tracking is enabled, the banner should be upgraded to provide the legally required choice before those technologies are activated.
14. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this policy when the website, Jotform configuration, Google services, analytics setup, advertising tools or applicable law changes.
Because third-party providers can change their cookie names, durations and technical behaviour, their own current documentation should also be reviewed where exact technical details are needed.
